Heavy Metals In Protein Shakes

Heavy Metals In Protein Shakes: Lead & Arsenic

Recently a report by ConsumerReports.org discussed the prevalence of heavy metals in many protein shakes.  This independent group did a study in which they compared samples of Muscle Milk, EAS, Optimum Nutrition and Designer Whey.  The results are disturbing.

The prevalence of arsenic, cadmium and lead in products made by Muscle Milk & EAS casts a poor shadow on the nutraceuticals industry.  It is a shame that these two large companies have shown neglect for testing the quality of their products across all markets.

Are these heavy metals dangerous?  To quote the article on Consumer Reports, "For perspective about the relative risks exposure to those metals can pose, consider the agency's list of 275 hazardous substances at toxic waste sites: Arsenic, lead, and mercury rank Nos. 1, 2, and 3"

The lead and arsenic content found in these protein shakes does not come from the actual protein, which is safe for consumption, but rather from the artificial additives and by products of the manufacturing process.  Any protein shake made in an all natural way will be within the recommended levels of these heavy metal contents.

All-Pro Science products are made to be all natural and come from sources that are healthier.  Our COMPLETE - 100% Grass Fed Whey for example comes from cows which live in pastures and eat natural grass.  Other cows that eat corn which is grown with pesticides pass on the harmful chemicals to humans.
